The Client Situation
A Welsh Borough Council had decided to take back control of their Vehicle Fleet Management. A new internal function was created to build, manage and maintain the fleet. New contracts to purchase and maintain the fleet had to be negotiated with large suppliers.
After an extensive search through their normal channels for external help, the Council was unable to find the level of experience that was required for this high profile role.
What Armadillo did
Within 24 hours of receiving the request, we supplied an experienced Vehicle Fleet Management Consultant from the Armadillo Resource Network. The Consultant had extensive experience in fleet management having worked for many years as a Senior Manager at Lex Vehicle Leasing.
In addition to negotiating the new contracts for the fleet, the Consultant was responsible for "knowledge transfer" of all of his work to the Council's own staff.
The Consultant quickly became an integral member of the project team adding significant value through his experience, knowledge and hands-on education of the Council's team.
Armadillo ensured continuity throughout the engagement with the same Consultant through two extensions to the original contract.
The Result
Through the involvement of the specialist Armadillo Consultant, significant cost savings were made on the initial capital investment of new vehicles and with contract negotiations on maintenance and servicing contracts. Added value was gained through the "knowledge transfer" from the Consultant to the Council's staff - education that is difficult to find.
